Christmas 2009

We had such a delightful Christmas this year complete with family, bingo, gifts, bingo, love, bingo and no hot water. Yes, our water heater leaked, extinguishing the pilot light and spilling water onto the family room carpet. Auh, what's a big wet spot and ice water amoungst family.

Christmas Eve we had our usual soup (three kinds, I might add, that I home-made): cheese, clam chouder and chili. Delicious! It's always a big hit especially in bread bowls that mom brings every year. Of course we had enough sweets to create a mega cankor sore in everyone's mouth. It was worth every bite! Just one little mishap with the food: the three cheeses for the cracker tray fell apart. The cheese was unknowingly put in the freezer. By dinner it was frozen solid and when thawed out, just fell apart like an All-A-Dollor toy the day after Christmas. Oh well, who needs expensive cheese anyway.

Along with the 5 of us living at home, mom and dad, Anna and her family, Elisabeth and Scott, Heather and Eric and their families and Trevor came for Christmas Eve. So much fun in so little time!

After dinner, reading from Luke, singing Christmas songs and talking about past Christmases, we played our yearly bingo game. Yes, the wild and crazy game that everyone loves. I'm just glad my children don't cry anymore after they see what present they end up with. Although, Celesta almost cried when she opened the Fart book complete with sound effects. Oh, so funny. Other highlights of the game this year were: Keith getting the plunger with TP, Austin getting the Rogain men's hairs growth box stuffed with our dog's hair and volumizing shampoo, Eric got the nose hair trimmer, mom and dad got the $25 gift card to Olive Garden and Anna got the $25 iTunes gift card. Me? I ended up with a purse and note pad. I was happy with that.

I worked Christmas morning at the hospital. After getting home at 1:30, I jumped back into my pj's and we opened presents. A realitively quiet day on Christmas, just right for the occassion.

Mary and Jeff in Salt Lake City

We are on Temple Square with the Assembly Hall behind us. Jeff and I spent two days in Salt Lake City shopping, enjoying the Christmas lights and watching a fabulous concert.

Jeff and I saw the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Christmas concert with Natalie Cole and David McCullough

If you look very closely (and I mean VERY closely) you can see David McCullough, President Monson and Natalie Cole

We are in the foyer of the Conference Center after the show.

Thanksgiving

I do love to cook so Thanksgiving is a treat. However, this year was the exception since I ended up in the emergency room with a kidney stone. Jeff and the kids were great at rescuing the dinner!

Heather, Keith, Eric, Penny, Anna, Austin and their children plus mom and dad came over for the feast. Elisabeth and Scott came over in the evening.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra Concert

We had a fun family day going to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Concert in Salt Lake City. We of course had to get a new outfit then eat at Subway first.
The kids loved taking the train down and Jeff and I loved not worrying about traffic.
The concert was 2 1/2 hours of great entertainment! They played my three favorite songs: Christmas in Sarajo, Christmas Cannon and their finale being Wizards in Winter.
We met up with Elisabeth and Scott at the Gateway after the show.

Eating at Panda Express after the concert.
